The World Farmers Organization (WFO) Annual Meeting 2026 has officially commenced in Nairobi, bringing together farmers' representatives, agricultural experts, policymakers, and development partners from across the globe to discuss the future of agriculture and food systems.
The high-profile event was officially inaugurated by Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe alongside WFO President Arnold Puech d’Alissac. The gathering marks a significant milestone for Kenya as it hosts one of the world's most influential agricultural forums.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, CS Kagwe emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing the challenges facing the agricultural sector, including climate change, food insecurity, market access, and sustainable production. He noted that farmers remain at the heart of economic development and food security, making it essential to strengthen policies and partnerships that support their growth and resilience.
WFO President Arnold Puech d’Alissac highlighted the critical role of farmers in feeding the world's growing population while adapting to changing environmental and economic conditions. He called for greater collaboration among governments, private sector players, research institutions, and farmers' organizations to create sustainable and inclusive agricultural systems.
