The annual Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show in Nanyuki is set to begin next Wednesday, attracting more exhibitors than last year in a major boost for the region’s agricultural sector.. According to Branch Chairman Justus Maragara, preparations for the highly anticipated event are complete, with more than 100 exhibitors expected from different parts of the country and abroad. Among the first-time participants are the Embassy of Argentina and a company from Tanzania.

Maragara noted that the exhibition will provide residents with a valuable chance to explore emerging agricultural technologies, especially in modern farming and livestock production. He emphasized that adopting such innovations at household level could play a major role in addressing food insecurity across the country.

This year’s show will be held under the theme, “Promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.” Visitors will experience a wide range of agricultural innovations, agribusiness opportunities, as well as crop and livestock exhibitions aimed at improving productivity and sustainability.

One of the major highlights at the Department of Agriculture’s demonstration farm will be the introduction of coffee farming in semi-arid Laikipia County. Coffee, traditionally not grown in the region, is now being promoted as a new income-generating crop for local farmers.
