The 2026 Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show in Nakuru officially got underway with a strong message of optimism and transformation as Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe toured exhibition stands and interacted with exhibitors from across the country. Among the highlights of his visit was an inspection of the Kenya Seed Company stand, alongside several other exhibitors showcasing innovations aimed at boosting agricultural productivity.
Speaking after officially opening the show, CS Kagwe reaffirmed the government's commitment to transforming Kenya's agricultural sector by placing greater emphasis on increased production, value addition, and market-driven farming. He noted that the future of agriculture lies not only in producing more food but also in processing agricultural products to increase their value, create employment opportunities, and improve farmers' incomes.
"I am here at the Nakuru Agricultural Show and I can confirm that there is a large turnout. The exhibitors are really doing well. As a country, Kenya is capable of producing our own food, and when it comes to food security, we are doing really well," said CS Kagwe.
His remarks reflected growing confidence in Kenya's agricultural potential, with the ASK Show providing an ideal platform for farmers, agribusinesses, researchers, financial institutions, and technology providers to exchange knowledge and showcase practical solutions.
This year's exhibition has attracted thousands of visitors eager to learn about modern farming techniques, climate-smart agriculture, quality seeds, mechanization, irrigation technologies, and value-addition opportunities. The event continues to demonstrate agriculture's critical role in strengthening food security, creating jobs, and driving economic growth.
